Successful Start-Up Week Germany 2021

From November 15 to 19, 2021, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences participated in the Start-up Week Germany. A total of 340 participants attended 15 events over 5 days. Students joined worldwide and thus participated in the nationwide largest action to strengthen entrepreneurship and founding spirit.
Once again, the Center for Research, Innovation and Transfer (ZFIT) put together a diverse program as part of Start-up Week Germany. Organized and coordinated by the team of the project "StartGlocal", an extensive program of events was set up together with professors and scientific staff. The program was perfectly complemented by external coaches, speakers and alumni.
The varied program offered participants a good insight into the topics of entrepreneurship and start-ups and answered many open questions: "How important is the Business Model Canvas? "Which PR measures fit my target group?" and "How do I protect my start-up idea?" were just some of these questions.
The creativity of the students of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences was particularly evident in the event "Social Entrepreneurship - Idea Pitch", the poster presentation on the topic of social entrepreneurship. Students of the Sustainable Development Management program pitched their ideas to external participants.
A deeper insight into the university was offered by the live tour through the FabLab.blue, the university's third FabLab, which will open its doors next year and, like the university's other FabLabs, will provide creative support in prototyping.
This year, Mr Holger Schnapka, start-up consultant of the Startercenter NRW of the Lower Rhine Chamber of Industry and Commerce, once again provided an important contribution to all those interested in starting a business during the start-up week. In individual discussions, in-depth questions of the students interested in founding a company were clarified, for example on the topic of business registration and taxes.
The highlight at the end of the start-up week was the "Pressure Cooker Day". 14 students, divided into two teams, took on the challenge of the regional company "Niederrheinische Verkehrsbetriebe AG NIAG". Supported by academic staff and a creativity coach, various approaches to solutions were developed and presented.
We would like to thank all participants, alumni and employees of the university as well as all moderators of the various events. We look back on a successful and multi-layered Start-up Week 2021 and are already looking forward to further events in the coming year.
