Start-up Week Germany 2022

This year, the Rhine-Waal University once again took part in the Start-up Week Germany, which took place from November 14 to 18, 2022. Around 200 participants, including students, citizens of Kleve, and employees of HSRW, took part in twelve events of the largest nationwide campaign to strengthen entrepreneurship and the spirit of founding.
The StartGlocal project of the Center for Research, Innovation, and Transfer (ZFIT) in cooperation with professors and academic staff repeatedly organized a diverse program as part of the nationwide start-up week. External coaches, speakers, and graduates as well as regional and cross-border start-ups complemented the events.
In addition to many open questions on the topics of entrepreneurship and start-ups such as “What steps does it take to start your own business?” and “How do I develop ideas with a sustainable impact?" the creativity of the students of the Rhine-Waal University was also put to the test: At the poster presentation of the Faculty of Communication and Environment, students of the International Business Administration, B.A., pitched their ideas in front of a jury and external participants.
A deeper insight into the university was provided by a live tour of the FabLab in Kamp-Lintfort. Here, the participants received support from the StartGlocal scouts in creating their own first prototypes.
Holger Schnapka, the start-up consultant of the Starter Center NRW of the Lower Rhine Chamber of Industry and Commerce, once again provided an important contribution to all those interested in starting a business during the start-up week. In individual discussions, in-depth questions of the students interested in founding a company were clarified, for example, on the topic of business registration and taxes.
Together with our partners in the start-up network, the StartGlocal team put together an informative and interesting start-up week. After the Best Idea Cup in October 2022, the innovation potential of the university is once again demonstrated, which we would like to use more in the Lower Rhine region.
