Entrepreneurship Week successfully accomplished

300 participants - 14 online events - 5 days! From 16th to 20th of November 2020, took the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences part in the Entrepreneurship Week Germany. Students from all over the world joined this largest nationwide campaign focused on strengthening of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial spirit.

The workshops and events of the Entrepreneurship Week were prepared by the Centre for Research, Innovation and Transfer (ZFIT) and its StartGlocal team. The virtual programme full of events was set up together with professors, scientific staff, external coaches and speakers.

How to use Business Model Canvas? How to define a target group? How to effectively use social media channels? These and many other questions about entrepreneurship and start-ups were addressed at various online workshops over the whole week.

International character of the Rhine-Waal University was remarkable especially at the event "Social Ventures from around the World", in which students of the Master's programme Sustainable Development Management developed and presented sustainable solutions for challenges in their home countries. Furthermore, engineering projects of our university were presented at the workshop "Enspire yourself!”. At further events, university's alumni and popular influencers not only inspired students for the self-employment, but also gave them many tips and advice.

We are were happy that business advisor of the Startercenter NRW der Niederrheinischen IHK, Mr. Holger Schnapka, again supported us and gave start-up advice to our international students interested in founding of own start-up company. On the final day, students took part in the "Pressure Cooker Day", in which two student teams tried to solve a challenge of the regional company Eurofleurs Elbers GmbH & Co.KG from Kevelaer. During the event, student teams were supported by scientific assistants from our university and a creativity coach and developed powerful solutions and an idea pitch together.

"We are glad that participants of the Entrepreneurship Week 2020 liked it and we will try to do our best also next year", said PD Dr. Gerhard Heusipp, head of ZFIT at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Adriana Boldisova, StartGlocal project coordinator adds: "The StartGlocal team would like to thank to all participating students, alumni and university employees, as well as to all event moderators. See you again next year!"
