Ringelbox receives Gründerstipendium NRW

Our students, Sandra Neuhäuser (Sustainable Development Management, M.A.) and Svenja Erfkämper (Sustainable Agriculture, B.Sc.), can celebrate their success in the Gründerstipendium NRW, which supports innovative start-up ideas!

With their start-up idea Ringelbox, they have developed a worm composter specially designed for indoor use in kindergartens and schools. A special feature here is the transparent front wall, which offers a view into the inner workings of the worm composter and thus gives children an understanding of the natural decomposition processes.

The project has been launched during the course "Social Ventures from around the World", which was led by Prof. Dr. habil. Ute Merbecks and co-organised by the project Innovations- und Gründungsoffensive Niederrhein. Here Sandra Neuhäuser presented the idea of the Ringelbox (at that time with a slightly different focus). A short time later, the Ringelbox team was completed with Svenja Erfkämper. In addition to participating in the StartGlocal Best Idea Cup 2020 and the online workshop series of the StartGlocal Academy, the Ringelbox team was mentored by the start-up scouts of their faculty. In this way, the students built up their project step by step.

At the beginning of the year, the two founders were able to pitch their Ringelbox to the jury of the Gründungsnetzwerk Region Niederrhein-Duisburg-Niederrheinische IHK (The Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and were pleased to receive a recommendation for funding. The NRW start-up grant supports the young team with a monthly grant of 1,000 euros each for a maximum of one year with the intention to make the start into the world of entrepreneurs easier.
