StartGlocal project launched to promote the start-up culture

In December of last year, the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences was awarded a prize at the BMWi competition “EXIST-Potentiale” for the project “StartGlocal - Global Spirit for Local Start-ups”. Now the project has been launched as planned. The first offers for the summer semester have been determined.

The Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences has now started its project "StartGlocal - Global Spirit for Local Start-ups". The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) under the "EXIST-Potentiale" funding line for the next four years. The goal is to establish a lively and active start-up culture at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. In particular, this is intended to strengthen the local transfer of knowledge and technology for a joint economic and social development of the region and the university.

With the appointment of Adriana Boldisova as project coordinator, StartGlocal can now get started. During the current summer semester, start-up coaching for students and research assistants will be offered, and currently this is already being done online. The program is continuously being expanded to include additional offers for people interested in starting up their own business. It is coordinated by the Center for Research, Innovation and Transfer (ZFIT). Additional staff will be hired for this purpose. "StartupScouts" in the faculties will support the search for innovative ideas and act as contact persons. The project team is expected to grow to seven people by the summer.

"Students and staff members can look forward to a broad and innovative offer of workshops, business idea competitions, coaching and further possibilities for their start-up ideas", says Dr. Gerhard Heusipp, project manager at ZFIT. "The regional economy should also benefit and be explicitly included. Shape the regional start-up culture with us", Dr. Heusipp invites the companies in the Lower Rhine region. The project also offers special formats such as the Pressure Cooker Day, Start-up Journeys or Entrepreneur-in-Residence.
